Sedona Real Estate News: Red Rock Crossing Still Not Solved
Report doesn't pan out to City Council expectations
Since the bridge washed out in 1976, there has been controversy surrounding a desire to rebuild Red Rock Crossing to provide a third route from Sedona real estate to the Village of Oak Creek.
The City Council has been trying to revive efforts, and ordered a feasibility study. Sedona.biz reports that the study did not offer the hoped for data:
The results were disappointing; including data regarding emergency
response times, which the council may have counted on to justify an
alternate route, which did not pan out. …
The report also determined the cost to build a bridge over Oak Creek
could cost between $5 million and $15 million, depending on the
location and not including road improvements.
However, the controversy still lives on, with opponents insisting that the matter should be closed, and supporters saying more studies should be done.
