Sedona real estate may benefit from a current trend. Recent data released by Core Logic shows that Arizona is one of 5 states showing an increase in home values. Phoenix AZ made headlines when the economy crashed and the recession was in full swing because of its housing market dipping dramatically. Now Phoenix is making headlines for its rebound with regards to real estate. In fact one recent headline from Realty Times reads “Phoenix, Arizona: The Way To A Real Estate Recovery”. The positive news leads us to believe that Sedona real estate could benefit from this recovery as well.

The Core Logic Home Price Index (HPI) for March showed an overall improvement of .6% for the nation. The good news for Sedona real estate is that Arizona showed a 5.1% increase, an increase that includes distressed properties. While news carriers appear to prefer to report the gloom and doom it is nice to see some positive headlines for a change.

Everyone has the opportunity to ride a bike with the Mayor of Sedona Arizona this Saturday, May 12th. This will be the second year in a row for the bike ride, a great way for residents of Sedona to get outside and get to know the Mayor in fresh air. The bike ride is meant for all ages and is a free event, starting from City Hall at 9 am Saturday morning.

Participants in Saturday’s bike ride in Sedona have options, as the ride is divided into two four mile rides. Bikers can choose one leg or both legs of the journey. The first ride is a four mile loop through the western neighborhoods of Sedona. The ride will then stop by City Hall and those that wish to continue, stop, or join in may do so. There is some great art in Sedona AZ this week. From First Friday to the kick off of the Annual Sedona Visual Artists’ Coalition’s Open Studios, the end of the week has much to offer anyone who loves to look at graet art as well as learn about the process and what inspires different artists. First Fridays tend to be a social event in Sedona, as well as an opportunity to meet and greet a variety of showcased artists. The annual Open Studios is an exceptional way to get to see the studios where some of the area’s finest art is created.

First Friday will occur this Friday, May 4th, from 5 to 8 pm, with galleries in the Hillside, Hozho, Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, and Uptown areas of Sedona displaying new exhibits. Many of the galleries have artists on hand to talk about their works and answer questions. This friday local artist Mary Fisher will be at the Goldenstein Gallery in Uptown Sedona. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Sedona Arizona this Saturday. Students from around Sedona AZ will have their art showcased this weekend. Students from 16 schools will be represented at this weekend’s Northern Arizona Watercolor Society’s (NAWS) annual student art show which is being held at Sedona’s Red Rock High School. Students from grades 7 through 12 will be displaying their works and top artists will receive awards for their efforts. The categories are broken into age groups of grades 7 and 8, grades 9 and 10, and grades 11 and 12. The exhibit will be in the high school’s cafeteria from 10 am through 5 pm both Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29.
