Good News for Sedona AZ: Houses are Selling
Real estate sales are up for January with 49 sales pending, an optimistic sign in hard economic times. The movement of real estate is credited to low interest rates and low home prices. In a recent article in the Verde Independent Beth Adams, president of the board of the Sedona-Verde Valley Association of Realtors, says: “Now is a good time to buy. Interest rates are at historic lows, there is a big selection to choose from, and sellers are negotiable. This makes houses very affordable.”
In the same article Sam Escobedo, 2009 association board member, is quote as saying, “It seems that the biggest fall of the hump of the colossal roller coaster ride is over.” The volatility of the stock market is also helping the real estate market. Location is seen as a key element when choosing real estate, the more desirable the location the more a property will increase over the long run. For now, a positive sign is welcome and 2009 is already a better year for real estate in Sedona Arizona.

[...] Mortgage rates hit the lowest they have been since mortgage rates began being tracked in 1971. The average rate for a 30 year fixed mortgage wound up at 4.85% for the week ending Thursday March 26. Not a bad mortgage rate for those either refinancing or purchasing a new home and the drop shows that the government’s commitment to invigorating the housing market is working, at least to some extent. The decrease in interest rates means that mortgage debts held by existing home owners can become more affordable when they are refinanced. The low rates also might entice those waiting on the sidelines to enter the real estate market. [...]
