Sedona Arizona Real Estate: Affordable Housing Discussed by City Council

Sedona Arizona City Council is in disagreement over the issue of affordable housing in Sedona. What started off as a discussion about increasing the density allowed for development from 12 units per acre to 20 turned into a full discussion on the issue.

Under an incentive that would allow for every two marketable units above 12 there would have to be one affordable housing unit, meaning that if the full 20 units were built there would be 3 affordable properties.

However the concern by residents was the standards would be lowerd due to the increase in density which could have an effect on quality of life. The councils liking for the unit incentive is that it would meet 46% of its affordable housing target in five years. However there was widespread opposition to the scheme. The issue itself is still unsolved and looks likely to be rediscussed in the near future.

With Sedona priding itself in luxury property offering a great quality of life and a small town feel for its residents it is no wonder that so many people want to relocate to the area and take advantage of everything Sedona has to offer.
