Flagstaff, north of Sedona, Arizona has a rather handy airport which has flights to various cities across the region. Locals rely on the flights and have been awaiting expansion at the airport so that more than one flight can be loaded/unloaded at the same time.

Thanks to the green light from Flagstaff city the expansion is close to being a reality as the city has nearly accepted a $1.2 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to carry out the work.

The airport is planning to use $1 million of the grant for an expanded security hold area so more than one flight can be dealt with and around $250,000 will go towards the runway expansion project – bringing funding up to the required $1.8million.

This is all exciting news as more flights, less delays are a boost for the local economy – the airport may be used more by day trippers or weekenders to the region who want to sample the delights of central Arizona!
