Sedona, Arizona: Red Rock State Park Holds Educational Environmental Activities for all
August is a busy time for the Red Rock State park in Sedona, Arizona. The state park is offering a series of environmental talks (with a specific focus on geology) as well as nature walks!
Retired oil and gas industry geologist, Art Smith will host an environmental talk entitled "Volcanoes of northern Arizona" with a rather long timeline starting at 15 million years ago to today! The presentation will be held August 3rd at 2pm in the park theater and is ideal for young and old to learn more about the geology around them and find out more about the rocks themselves and how they came to be!
Of course in addition the moonlight hikes will continue with the next scheduled on the 16th of August as well as the sunset hike every monday, wednesday and friday in August! There is also a guided bird walk on wednesday and saturday mornings too. It certainly is a busy time for the rangers and park employees/volunteers! With park entry a great $6 for a car with up to four adults it is a bargain and a good day out with family and friends!
