Tax Day Tips: Getting Ready to Send in Your Tax Return
What to do before you send in your tax return
Today is Tax Day. You probably already know that. If you haven’t sent your forms in, you have until midnight. Most post office stay open at least that late in order to accommodate last-minute filers.
If you still have your tax forms, here are some things to do before you send them off:
- Have someone look over them. There places in Sedona that offer free tax help. Having someone look at your tax forms can help you avoid problems later.
- Copy your tax forms and supporting documents. Make sure that you keep copies of your tax forms and any documents that you use to support them. In many places, Office Depot and Staples will copy tax forms for free.
- Call the IRS. The IRS has tax day tips on the Web site, and representatives are available at 1-800-829-1040.
