Sedona Mil Levy Rate May Be Lowered

Fire district budget figured partially from Sedona real estate values

As part of the funding of the Sedona Fire District, a mil levy rate is imposed, based on real estate value. With the homes increasing dramatically in 2005 and the first part of 2006, this has meant that the Sedona mil levy has seen a substantial increase. Red Rock News reports on reasoning behind lowering the Sedona mil levy rate:

SFD Fire Chief Matt Shobert told the board that, due to the large jump
in assessed valuations, he felt the district was well-positioned to
drop the mil levy by at least $0.07 or $0.08 for the fiscal year that
begins Tuesday, July 1, and still have adequate operating and capital
improvement funds for ongoing projects and also reserve funds for
upcoming projects.
