Sedona Real Estate News: Highway Safety Recommendations Made
89A Pedestrian Safety Advisory Panel offers recommendations
One of the more prominent Sedona real estate concerns has ahd to do with pedestrian safety on Hwy 89A in West Sedona. Now, the 89A Pedestrian Safety Advisory Panel has recommendations for making that stretch of highway safer. Sedona.biz reports on the suggestions offered by the panel:
- Reduce speed limit to 35 mph between Dry Creek Rd. and Airport Rd.
- Enforce all road-user laws, including for bikes, autos and jaywalking.
- Educate tourists and Sedona residents about the Dark Sky initiative and the precautions they can take.
- Analyze needs for pedestrian crosswalks.
- Install traffic signal at the Andante intersection.
- Photo speed enforcement.
- Add bike lanes and re-stripe the highway.
- Install raised medians in certain areas.
- Shielded pedestrian lighting along sidewalks.
- Paint curbing at driveways.
