ADOT Plan Changes to Save Sedona Trees on Hwy. 179

Hwy. 179 Improvement Project receives its own improvement

In the eyes of locals determined to save Sedona trees on Hwy. 179, the ADOT Hwy. 179 Improvement Project has its own improvements, resulting in fewer Sedona trees to be cut down. Red Rock News reports on the specifics of changes to the ADOT plan for the Sedona trees along Hwy. 179:

  • Relocation of a storm drain to the center of the road rather than in front of Tlaquepaque.

  • Temporary stabilization of the western bank of Oak Creek during construction to protect trees.

  • Creating a meandering sidewalk on the north side of Hwy. 179 to save large sycamores.
