Governor Napolitano Approves New Court in Yavapai County
Applications for judgeship go out in October
When the request was made for Yavapai County to get a new court, officials expected a longer wait. However, in just over a month, Governor Napolitano has approved a new judgeship. Applications will go out in October, and the governor is expected to make a decision by January. However, the appointment will be short-lived. Sedona Red Rock News reports on what will happen with the judgeship:
The governor makes this type of appointment to the bench, limiting the local political influences, [Yavapai County District 3 Superviser Chip] Davis said. She is slated to do so by January 2008.
Whoever gets the nod will have to run for the position in November 2008 general election.
