Do Your Homework in Choosing a Lender

It’s a great time to buy real estate!  Interest rates are good, and there’s lots of inventory to choose from, making it a buyer’s market.

As you seek a good loan for yourself, shop the loan!  One of the best sources of choosing a "vendor" of any product that you are buying, be it a loan, a home, or a surgeon for your upcoming surgery, is word-of-mouth.  Talk to others and find out what their experience has been.   Ask your REALTOR to help you with meeting several good lenders.  I always like knowing how long a vendor has been doing this business in this town.  I like to support those who have been here in the community working hard for people.  Then do your homework.  Interview them.  Ask them for references, satisfied clients, whom you could call. Don’t rush through the process.  Let them know that you are shopping; it’s your right! 

Remember the old adage:  if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Be sure to read this first before you shop for a loan.  Being armed with information is always a good thing.
